One FLavorfuL Heritage
Mike’s Ice Cream Factory was opened in 1955 by John Schairer. He retired in 1968 and sold the business to Roy and Ruth Tillman who changed the name to Big Dip. The Tillman’s ran the business for 10 years, selling to Polly Kachmarik in 1978. She sold it to Donna and Joe Stenzel after a 19 year run.
Joe and Donna retired in 2021 when they sold the business to the Penizotto family which also owns and operates Peter's Polar Parlor in Camillus and Sno-Top Ice Cream in Manlius. Big Dip’s daily operations are run by Christy Penizotto, along with the rest of the family.

Do you make ice cream pies?
We sure do! Just give us a call 24 hours in advance and we'll make anything that strikes your fancy, custom made to order!
Do you offer any vegan options?
We always have at least one vegan ice cream option available! (chocolate chunk, cookie dough chip, or classic cookie) --Plus... Italian ice, frozen chocolate bananas, slushies as well as our Dole Whip flavors, Dole Whip blast, Dole Whip glacier, Blue moon, Cactus cooler and Frozen Lemonade!
