One Flavorful Heritage
Mike’s Ice Cream Factory was opened in 1955 by John Schairer. He retired in 1968 and sold the business to Roy and Ruth Tillman who changed the name to Big Dip. The Tillman’s ran the business for 10 years until 1978 when they sold it to Polly Kachmarik. Polly ran the business for 19 years until she sold it to Donna and Joe Stenzel. Joe and Donna retired in 2021 when they sole the business to the Penizotto family which also owns and operates Peters Polar Parlor in Camillus and Sno Top Ice Cream in Manlius. Big Dip’s daily operations are run by Christy Penizotto with help from the rest of the family.
